An Example of a B1/B2 Sample Invitation Letter for Tourist Visa Application

Example Invitation Letter for a B1/B2 Visitor Visa Application

This is a sample letter that children in the United States can write when inviting their parents to visit. While consular officers may not always review documents, having a letter like this on hand can be helpful in case parents need assistance articulating their purpose of travel or their ties back home.

Invitation Letter for B1/B2 Visitor Visa Application

San Francisco, CA – 94115

Dear Consular Officer,

I am writing to extend a formal invitation to my parents, Rajesh and Sunita Mehta, to visit my family and me in the United States for a short period. We request that they be granted a B1/B2 visitor visa.

I am currently pursuing my PhD at the University of California, Berkeley, in biomedical sciences. My husband, Arjun Patel, is employed in the United States on an H1B visa as a senior software engineer, which provides us with the financial stability to support my parents during their visit. Our family is very close, and we eagerly anticipate this reunion.

Purpose of Visit:
My parents’ visit is primarily to spend time with me, meet their grandchild, and support me during my studies. This will be a family visit and an opportunity for us to share quality time together. They also plan to visit my sister, who lives in New York and works as a marketing analyst.

Financial Independence:
My parents are financially independent. Both are respected government employees in India, earning a combined monthly income of approximately 2 lakh INR. They own property in India and will fully fund their travel expenses. Additionally, they have taken paid leave for this visit, which will not affect their financial stability or professional responsibilities.

Travel Plan:
My parents intend to visit us for six weeks, after which they will return to India. Their significant family, property, and professional ties back home ensure their prompt return.

To support their visa application, I have included documents to verify our relationship, my visa information, and my parents’ financial stability.

We respectfully request that you grant my parents, Rajesh and Sunita Mehta, a B1/B2 visa to visit us in the United States. Your consideration is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to our family being together for this special time.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Sincerely,
Priya Mehta
