How To Get Admission in U.S. Universities From India?

You have approximately 4,500 authorized higher education institutions in the USA. Once you complete 12th grade, you can pursue a 4-year bachelor’s degree program. More importantly, a qualifying score in the English language proficiency exam (TOEFL or IELTS) and other tests like (SAT and ACT) are essential. Also, a well-written Statement of Purpose and letters of recommendation are required. For eligibility, you must be 18 years old, and carry an acceptance letter from a U.S. university. 

 

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  •       Undergraduate Degree Course: Must have completed 12th grade with a minimum of 60%
  •       Postgraduate Degree Course: Must have completed an undergraduate degree course in the related field of study.
  •       Doctoral Degree Course: Must have completed a postgraduate degree in the related field of study.

 

English Proficiency Tests:

IELTS  6.0 to 6.5
TOEFL  80
PTE  48
DUOLINGO  100

 

Entrance Exams: Minimum scores and exact test requirements vary by institution. 

For Undergraduate Courses:

  • SAT
  • ACT
  • MCAT
  • LSAT

For Postgraduate Courses:

  • GMAT
  • GRE

 

Documents to Submit during the Admission Process in the USA

In general, you must submit the following documents during the admission process to study in the USA after your 12th grade: 

  • Educational transcripts of previous qualifications
  • Valid passport
  • Recommendation Letters
  • Statement of Purpose
  • English language proficiency scorecard (IELTS or TOEFL)
  • Extra-curricular activities certificates
  • Bank statements
  • SAT/ACT scorecards (GMAT/GRE for postgraduate programs)
  • Resume
